FESTO FACTORY AUTOMATION - SENSORS

Proximity sensors

Proximity sensors are used for binary feedback of the piston position of pneumatic drives. They are sensors that detect the magnetic field of the piston magnet via a magnetic field or reed contact. They are mounted in the required switching position in the cylinder's T-slot or C-slot and output a standardised 24 V switching signal when the magnetic field of the piston is detected. The range of switches covers all standard applications and also provides solutions for specific industry segments. The strength of the piston's magnetic field and the sensor slot geometry are not standardised in the market. Any cylinder manufacturer can freely select both.
Festo develops both cylinders and cylinder sensors and can therefore safely and reliably design the proximity switches for its own drives.

Inductive sensors

Festo inductive sensors can operate at a greater distance than conventional inductive sensors. Not all are limited to ferromagnetic metals. Factor 1 sensors can sense other conductive metals such as copper and aluminium.

Position sensors

Position sensors are position transmitters that are used universally. In addition, complex or programmable solutions are available as position sensors and can only be used for the drives for which they have been optimised. Another product segment is encoders. They are required predominantly for servo-pneumatics and are used with certain servo-pneumatic closed-loop controllers.

Pressure and vacuum sensors

Festo pressure and vacuum sensors are designed for sensing all pressure values: programmable or as a modular product. For example, pressure sensor SPAN is optimally priced and in a modular system. The pressure and vacuum switch SPAN is the low-cost alternative for simple and fast pressure control. It offers impressive compressed air, control points and vacuum detection, and object detection via backpressure.

Flow sensors

The Festo Flow sensors provide absolute flow rate information with threshold values and convenient switching point adjustment via a display. In addition, they include cumulative air consumption measurement and patented adjustable consumption-based switching pulse.

Opto-electrical sensors

Opto-electrical sensors generate light (transmitter) and evaluate the reflected light in the receiver. These sensors detect objects and their characteristics, e.g. light interruption or a change in light intensity.

Signal converters

The signal converter converts analogue signals into digital switching signals. A connection to the higher-level system is established via switching outputs or an IO-LinkĀ® interface. The switching outputs can be configured to monitor a threshold value, signal range or signal change.

Electromechanical switches

Electric limit switches are used for signalling in end positions or intermediate positions. Depending on their connection, they can be used as normally open, normally closed or changeover contacts.

Classic

Festo classic sensors include Proximity sensor, Proximity switch SMEO-4 and Proximity switch SMTO-4.

Air gap sensors

The control module provides a compressed air preparation that is adapted to the supply pressure of the sensor module, as well as the functionality for switching. Features include a control module (optional), sensor module (max. 4 modules permitted in combination with control module), plug for electrical connection and fastening slides.

Accessories

Festo offers an extensive range of accessories for sensors in every application. Accessories include connecting cable NEBU, sensor socket for customer-specific cable assembly, mounting component for proximity switch, etc.
